  • Help! About to buy 07 Jetta 2.0T

    Hey wonderful people,

Been lurking here for some time, enjoying the forum. I need your help urgently. I just saw a used 07 Jetta 2.0T with factory sunroof, leather, and 18" wheel... everything in pretty good condition (9/10) and the guy is asking $26k for it (down from $28.5). Is it good value for money? It's only done 33000 KMs.

What should I look for? Warranty will run out this June.

    Thanks guys.

    MY07 or MY08?
Easy way to tell will be the full MFD.
the price is ok, I'd be haggling for 24-25 but I'm a tightass when buying cars. Dealers ALWAYS have room to move. and dont bother with their extra warranty, buy the proper extended NEW CAR warranty from vw for ~1500. there are threads here about it

It's MY07. I'm buying it privately, not from a dealer. So what do you reckon is a fair price?

I live in WA. Dealer price is averaging $30-$32k.

Sounds reasonable with the options and low kms. I presume this is with DSG? Manuals will be cheaper. Maybe try $25k?

Yes, it is DSG. Redbook says $26k but it seems that people are selling them at higher price than that. What gives? Is Jetta that popular?

It sounds good - I'm buying the same model at the moment. Personally I would tee up the extended warranty. If buying privately would get a VW guy to do a pre purchase inspection for peace of mind. 33,000km is bugger all and may as well be new. With the options this car would have been about 44,000 new. Good luck.

The turbo petrol is DSG only.

The way things are going, manuals should become more expensive on the second hand market given the inherent DSG problems.

Thanks everyone for your input. I've decided not to get the car. Not because of the price but the colour. After having much thought, I just couldn't live with the colour I don't like. So.. I found another Jetta DSG Turbo in Candy White... my fav colour.. It's got lower KMs, Leather, 18" wheels..very similar specs. Asking $30k but possibly can bargain to $27-$28k. I started another thread asking opinion if I should get that or MK6 Comfortline DSG for $5K more. Thanks again for your inputs. I really appreciate it.

Not a bad colour... but our current car is silver and would like a change of scenery
