  • Did you tell your insurer about your ECU tune/reflash?

I'm thinking about going with an APR flash for my 1.4TSI and I've read posts saying people aren't concerned about warranty as dealers wouldn't know if the ECU has been flashed or not ( assuming you get one of those flashes that have built in security lock-out )

Now I'm wondering if you'd tell your insurance company about it. No doubt your premiums would increase, but in the event of an accident, can they really look at your car and say "oh you had it flashed and didn't tell us so your policy is void"

    yes.
The increase in premium with most insurers in negligible. The consequences of not telling them are too great on an expensive car. Especially if you come to grief through the front window of a Ferrari dealership.

RACQ qoute goes up $15 with a full disclosure of the future mods for my car (mods value = 10k)

Definitely worth disclosing for me when my car arrives.

This has been covered before and the overwhelming suggestion has been to cover the modification. If you have an insurer that will only cover "x" amount of mods, start rationing them or select another insurer.
