Does anyone know if there is an alternative sun visor available for a mkV golf which can be extended when you flip it round to the drivers side window? The factory one is too short and does not screen my face from the sun when the sun is side on to the drivers door.

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Continuing this. I finally got the part. My local dealer didn't want to let me know the part number but they told me it would cost $240 per side, and when I asked them about the electrical connection, they (yes, two parts guys) were quite insistent that they wouldn't know and I would have to google or check online forums for the answer. They also said that once ordered, the sale was finalised.
Anyway, I told them I was going to try and find more information. Who knew that a friend would so kindly locate this for me and get it shipped to me from Singapore. loves! The only problem is the connectors (problem described in Extendable sunvisors).
The part number on the paperwork said: 1KO 857 552
But the packaging (assuming they are the same worldwide) said:
1KO 857 551 N 2F4 (right side, 2F4 = pearl grey colour)
1KO 857 552 K 2F4 (left side)
Hope this helps. I'll put a visual guide up once I get it installed.'09 Jetta 1.4 TSI 7spd DSG in Platinum Gray

Oh, and another thing. When VW Singapore input my chassis # into their systems, it said my Jetta was meant to have extendable visors(??), but none of the Jettas in Singapore have extendable visors just as none of the Jettas in Australia I've seen have it.
And the VW person speaking to my friend said the VW passat in Singapore have dual extendable visors. Hmm.. might have to check that out and see if they fit the jetta, so you can have front/side+extendable at the same time ( i think)'09 Jetta 1.4 TSI 7spd DSG in Platinum Gray
