  • Volkswagen sound package?

does anyone know what the Volkswagen sound package is? i thought it meant 10 speakers (on th R32) but then in the brouchure http://www.volkswagen.com.au/pdf/Bro...ure%20July.pdf page 22 it says the the sat nav doesn't include the package but does include 10 speakers

    so what is the difference?

also does the sat nav come with an aux plug (not ipod) in the glovebox? i read that somewhere but can't find reference to it now

Acccording to the R32 brochure the Volkswagen sound package has a 8 channel 250W amplifier and 10 speakers, 6 disc CD changer Mounted in dash

So maybe ????? with Sat Nav it means no 250W amplifier.

I suggest calling your dealer or 1800 060 936 VW Freecall Hotline.

    Welcome to the forum BTW
    Good Luck with your purchase

thanks for the welcome mate - will give the hotline a go - salesmen are never good with details

i guess the question to ask then is what is the sat nav output rated at (compared to the standard stero which is 8 ch 250w) since they both have 10 speakers

I would be very interested to know about the aux input as well... if someone could provide some information on that...

I used the Aux input on mine for MP3 player input (not iPOD), the Car Kit company did the install (I have the RCD500), at the same time as they hooked up my phone kit.

Total for the phone (using the factory wheel buttons) and the Aux input via mini-stereo jack was $795. The lead is in the glovebox (as I wanted it), and the MP3 player is accessed via pressing the CD buitton twice (once ofr the CDs int the internal stacker, once for AUX input).

Quality is great and no complaints.

              Downsides:

              1. Because it isn't iPOD I don't get playlist control through the front panel (it just says CD1).
              2. It doesn't pause when I answer the phone (although it does mute) - CDs pause when I answer the phone.

I believe the kit, fitted is less than $175 by itself.

              Happy to answer any questions.

ooops, and sorry through my research, the Aux connector is used for the external stacker on the Satnav, but not the RCD500. So if you want the AUx port for MP3 on Satnav, you probably lose the external stacker.

My advice would be to chat to the guys from the car kit company and ask them about your particular config.. They were very helpful and knowledgable when I spoke to them.

This is in an R32 - no nav, phone kit now working through the steering wheel (as it should!)

hmm... if I have to pay to install a aux then its probably better for me to install an ipod adapter...

I've ordered my car with SAT NAV and I remember someone was saying if you have the factory SAT NAV (with stacker) you can't install the ipod adapter... u either have one or the other... can anyone confirm this is true?

                      Hey Phaeton,

                      Where'd that number come from?
I can't see it on the VW web site - the only thing I can find for contact is the email form, which is a PITA!

                          VW Sound packs

                          Angry Shot

Went thru this with my new toy ('07 R32)....with Nav, you get the speakers (all ten, poor quality). If you go without Nav you get the same (poor quality) speakers but with a 250w amp (just makes the bass sound worse). The factory iPod kit will work with either system...but you cannot see what playlist is which (no alpha numeric display....extremely disaapointing). The iPod kit is great sound quality wise and if u do the miles or love ur tunes it's 1000% better than a FM kit, u just visually don't what u have selected and u can select from 6 playlists. The bluetooth phone kit is also great but again, no phonebook functions...considering it's $800, also disappointing. Pity we can't fit the Dynaudio speakers and amp from the EOS as it is very impressive!

                              no worries Angry Shot.

How's the new car???? I think i am the most excited bloke on this forum at the moment! With that engine note, the only times the windows are up is when i park it and fuel consumption is hovering around the 18ltr per 100 on average for the 3 months i've had it.

So yeah, treating me well so far (other than the fuel costs )
