MK5 TDI Air conditioner compressor stuffed. Common???

Hi, my 2009 TDI DSG Pacifics' (19000 k's)air conditioner compressor is RS. The service manager at the dealer tells me it is fairly common. Is it? Apparently they have some sort of internal catastrophe and stop working.He said VW have changed suppliers from the one in mine now.
Anyhow now wait for parts and then they want the car for two days to R&R.
Oh well.
Glad it's not hot in Brisbane this time of the year.

It was very very common in earlier models. I havent heard of it being a problem in late model mk5s though and yours is pretty late model.

At the end of the day anything can break though. Just be thankful you have a warranty

My mates parents TDI Golf did the same thing. It was a 2007 model and only had 1300km when it happened.
