hi mate,
im looking for a place to do my mkv fsi service and your place is close to my work. i drive past everyday and see usually mkiv at your place. are you special in mkiv only? or is just me miss all the mkv?

I took mine to Autohaus Strecker, and i liked them. They were fast, knew what they were doing, and my brother (who is a mechanic) checked over the invoice afterwards, and told me that they didn't throw in any surprises to charge me extra for (like lefthanded lightbulbs).

Definitely using them from now on.

I got recommended them by a friend who told me that the owner is a perfectionist and lover of cars. Basically, if he thinks you aren't being good to your car, he won't want to give it back... which is exactly the type of person i want working on my car.

i live close to autohaus strecker and called them recently to get some info on first service for my 08 GT Sport tsi.

The guy i spoke to on the phone sounded nice but quoted me $400. He justified it by saying "the oil used in that engine is very expensive. that's about $100 before we've done anything..."

i thought that was steep and went home and googled about the engine oil requirements for my engine. Can pick up the exact spec of oil from local repco for $40.....

on that basis i didn't take my car there cause i don't like being treated like a moron. also my last mechanic charged me $20 for wiper fluid.

in the end went with one of the suggestions from members on here: JadeAuto in roseberry.

did a great job - no fuss, and $100 cheaper to boot!!!!

He may be using VW504/507 oil, which is better (and considerably more expensive) than VW 505 (IIRC the minimum standard for VAG petrol engines). I'd prefer a mechanic that works to a higher standard rather then the minimum, but it is your choice.
