If its a DSG car, then on a 2006 car it may be the 4 year or 60,000km service which is a fairly big one.
service intervals are 15,000km or 12 months whichever comes first, so that would be what i would be looking for.currrently... MY10 GTI | DSG | Candy White | Sunroof | 18's | BT | MDI
previously... MY08 GT TDI | DSG | Reflex Silver | Sunroof

60,000 is usually spark plugs as well isnt it? Would they do those on a car that has only done 30,000kms?
4 years could also be timing belt depending on how the dealer interprets the guidelines. Thats quite an expensive one.

I'm sure everyone would love to know how they perform the 60,000km service for $266 to $333. Using $10 oil from Woolworths and paying a monkey $10 an hour would have to factor into that price and sparkplugs would have to be from Kmart.
Carservice.com.au puts the cost at $804 to $990.

Getting my 2006 GTI DSG in for the 45k km service next week and the cheapest I've found for this is $300 + $30 for a loan car. It's not too bad. Otherwise can look at car workshops for $265 - $280, there's not too much. Best thing to do is call a VW dealer and for their servicing dept. to get a quote. Good luck.______________________

Though I might throw this in for those who are trying to save a few pennies like me.....
Has anyone considered purchasing OEM parts & oils from their local VW spare parts, and then taking their car to an approved mechanic for the repair, or even better a friend....
It will not void your factory warranty...
My 30K service, i was quoted $650 from my local VW service centre....
I questioned why so much, i was told that it will take the mechanic a long time to replace the Pollen Filter which cost $150, plus another $80 for labour since the job is time consuming and will need to dismantle many things... HEHHEHE i laughed....
As a result i purchased ALL the parts & oils for $150 (if my memory serves me correctly; engine oil, oil filter, brake fluid, pollen filter), paid another $80 for labour and job is done....
Replaced the Pollen Filter myself within 3min and the service centre wanted to charge me $230, what a joke.....
Restarted the service interval indicator myself....
