  • Help wiring S6 DRL on R32

I have searched around here, but cannot find someone from Aus who has them and explained their wiring. I have an 09 R32 and want to wire them up as simply as possible (without removing the dash etc to add wires). I would like to run them day and night, but also be able to switch them off if needed. If i wire them to the park lights, they would be on when in Park-light mode and also on when the HID is on and I would have the option to switch them off. But, how would I wire it so that I can have the switch in AUTO (i.e. HID and Parks off in the daytime) but have the DRL on?

You could just wire them intendant of anything else with a switch hidden in the compartment to the right of the steering wheel under the dash

Put a a switch in one of the blank sw cutouts in centre console.
Run power from cig liter there thru sw.
They will come on with ign and can be turned off by sw.

Soctty1991 thanks, but I would prefer to be as neat as possible with no extra switches in compartments etc
Bazzle, does 'sw' mean switch? And when you say run power from cig lighter, are you saying the LEDS will be powered from the cig lighter?

Powered by the car - accessed through the wires connected to the cigarette lighter. Basically its the closest/easiest accessible power source when putting a switch in that location.

IE - if the cigarette lighter has power to be used, the DRLs will be have power to be used.

Basically if you want to have functionality that is outside that offerred by the standard car functionality then you will need additional switching to control this. As you've mentioned, you can't have them on independently of the Park Lights unless you introduce additional switching mechanisms. The default wiring configuration does not provide a power source in the front of the car that is "always on".

          Hope that makes sense.
