  • 2007 R32 - 20,000klms $38.500

Tough decision here. I have found a 2007 3 dr R32, DSG 20,000klms and Blue which I can have for $38,500.

3 dr R32 are rare expecially in Blue and low klms, and the price is good.

I have a deposit down on the Mk6 GTI with options, which will cost me $46,500.

So it is either a R32 now, or a brand new mk6 GTI which I have to wait another 6mths for - and will cost $8,000 more

    What u guys reckon??

    Very different cars.

R32 sounds lovely, but probably not as tune'able for power.
    GTI is FWD

Really have to drive both and see which one you click with.

Personally, I would get the R32 now. Apart from all you have said, the R32 will also loose the least amount of $$.

Also, if you really like the GTi, you could sell the R32 after 6 months when you take delivery of the GTi.

That would be an expensive way to go. You must have liked the GTI to have put a deposit on it, I reckon just wait and get it.

R32 for 38.5k.. thats a steal! There are 07-08 GTI's going for more.

If you're gonna wait for 6 months for your GTI, I suggest looking into the R20 which will be out in July supposedly. I dont think a definite price has been released on one of those, but apparently between the price of GTI and R32.

            Good luck either way!

There was a Reflex Silver R32 DSG with around the same amount of kms on carsales going for $38500 until a couple of days ago, it sat there for ages too, i couldn't beleive how long it sat there for!! There are a few going cheap all the time on there, especially the DSG's, i saw one go for $32000 with 80kms recently. There was a 6MT going for $37000 with only 27000kms on it, but the price went up to $39000 2 days later(maybe when they realised it was chaper than a couple of Mk4s at the time!!).

For me i'd take an R32 over the MK6 GTI, its all about personal choice though, i guess you could buy the R32, and if you decide you want a Mk6 after a few months, then just sell the R32 again, i'm sure you wouldn't lose too much money on it!

I say go the GTI. Much more versatile if you want to tinker.

This is another case of no-one being able to make the decision for you.

Drive both of them and see which one brings a smile to your face as they are both very different animals. There are a few R32 vs GTI threads which you may want to search for. They outline positives and negatives of both cars.

mmm Tough Decision can't say I like the stock look of the R32 MKV but I would imagine it's a great car to drive...

MK6 GTI looks good but meh No beautiful VR note...

R32- extend the factory warranty for another 3 years + as someone else mentioned: new exhaust. And you still have 5k change from your gti price...

i'd get R32 as well. last of the V6 in a golf chassis. something a little more unique than a GTI. i reckon it's plenty fast enough.
