Forge/BSH/Prosport/other Catch Cans

Thanks to Tim and the Hawk for some help in the WTB section, and i thought I carry on the discussion here.

Looking into installing a catch can and with the help of Tim and Hawk I've looked into catch cans from Forge, BSH and Prosport. Price wise they all seem to vary from AU$75 all the way to US$224. Question is, who has one, what brand did you choose, how much did you pay for it and what are the main difference between each brand?

i was quoted $500 for the forge catch can. I'm pretty sure the BSH one will not fit our cars because they were designed for left hand drive cars and one of the members tried to make it fit with no luck. Haven't heard of prosport thou but best to ask dealers first if they have the RHD versions becaue LHD won't fit. And get back to me because i am also looking =)

I have the BSH Stage 2+ PCV Fix with High Capacity Catch Can, and can confirm this DOES NOT fit on right hand drive vehicles without modifying your engine bay by relocating the Charcoal Canister.

The can is still new in the box as the day I got it over 5 months ago, as I have been emailing BSH for the last 4 or 5 months regarding this issue and they said they were in the process of creating a new bracket for our vehicles. 5 months down the track, they said that they could not get their hands on a right hand drive car, therefore the best option was to move the charcoal canister to a different location, and put their catch can in its designed position.

After liaising with my mechanic, the charcoal canister can be relocated with no affect on the vehicle.. Just need new vacuum lines/hoses and possibly a custom bracket to put the canister somewhere (I'm thinking underneath the battery or CAI pipe if there is enough room). So I'm basically waiting on my next service to get the canister relocated. I'd do it myself like all my other mods, but quite frankly I'm too lazy to muck around with it.

BSH make good quality products but are slightly overpriced. I paid $300USD delivered for my kit.

That being said, the Forge catch cam is selling for £60.45 (approx $110) correct me if I'm wrong - how come you didnt opt for Forge?

The standard BSH catch can is $225.. the one I have is the High Capacity can which is $280. And I got mine a while ago when it was priced at $299 before the Forge was even released.. the differences are as follows:

High Capacity Can:
- holds about 1lt of fluid - need to empty much less often
- much easier drainage system using a drainage plug

Oh I see where you got the $110 from. Those catch cans are universal cans. They are not tailor made for our cars. I ordered a complete kit which includes a PCV Fix & Catch can specifically for my car.

John from OzAudi pointed me to this joint which Im checking out that custom make these things to order. He landed one for $118 delievered... comes with a bracket and bolts, only thing missing was the hoses... worth a try and compare!

Just be careful with those Universal kits. They have a similar can + hose structure, but what about the other side of the hoses? I dont think they will fit your car unless you have the PCV upgrade kit installed also.

See attached thread for the installation of the BSH kit. You'll notice that the new PCV plate has two nozzles that stick out of it.. one for each side of the hose from the catch can... the standard valve does not have these nozzles.

Swapping a few emails with this joint, they've recommended the OCC Stage 3 that has 3/4" valves (or what they call 'nipples'). Cost is US$105 + US$30 shipping, so on a good day all up it should be around the AU$145 -155 mark.

i'd be down as well just gotta make sure its rhd. Any reviews on this? haven't heard of the brand before.
Ian set up a group buy for the forge catch can a few months back but the price was still over $400 so this still looks like a good option if it offers the same advantages and qualities of the bigger brands

It appears to be adaptable to RHD and LHD, and because they are made to order, they can adopt it to both upon request.

In regards to installing... I'm leaving that up for Seb to do...

I'll see if they do group buys and what the required number is for a decent discount.
