Nearing 18" time!!

Guys, I'm nearing the most important time!!! decking my baby out with 18" wheels..... I have my eye on the new 18" Visions with the black painted inside edges that are an option on the new Mk6 GTI's.... My Jetta is also black so any thoughts??? also thinking of the Bridgestone RE-001 series of tyres in the 225/40/18 as recommended for rolling dia..... again, any thoughts??

I have RE001s and tey are fantasic. The alternaives are T1R's and Michelin Pilot Sports I think, but probabyl all much of a mucjness really....search for the motor tyre test and havea read

I'm on new RE-001's and am a big fan, loads of grip, quiet, and well priced. I also went up to the 235 wide, and it's put the woefully slow reading VW speedo almost back to exact. I'm "about" right, still slightly under. Looks nice and fat too with a bit of poke in the sidewalls.

I run the Bridgestone RE001s and am very happy with them inb the dry. Not as much in the wet.

My dad's black J-dawg 2.0T has 18 inch VW Charleston wheels. They look purty good:

18" re001's on my jetta. they have been pretty good and so far good tyre life.
just passed 25000k's on them.

any impact to your fuel economy using 235?

I'd recommend you consider the Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics, specially if you enjoy driving in the wet.

i've also heard that the new Pirelli PZero's are even better in the wet, but havent seen any tests yet

I have been running 235/40/18 RE-001's for the past 12k klms on a MK V chassis, have also had two track days on them, they are still performing very well. No noticeably change in fuel economy over the 225/17's either.
