  • DSG chassis affected with temp sensor issue (pdnr flashing)

Link to Chassis numbers that are affected with the PDNR flashing error, ie temp switch in DSG.

This is in HK but Im guessing applies world wide?

Not the same issue as the worn bushing in mecatronics .

DSG problem - indicated by flashing of gear numbers on MFD

Had a similar problem with my Jetta MK V (MY08 ). Experienced a sudden loss of transmission (it just went into 'neutral'). There was a warning light displayed and all of the numbers on the electronic transmission gear display on the MFD were flashing. Switched off engine. After a minute I restarted the car and all operated normally. This happened twice, randomly over a couple of weeks.

Took it to dealer (still under warranty) and they confirmed there was a fault in the DSG - no apparent problem with temperature, though. They replaced the mechatronic unit - advising me that it was because there were some loose 'pins' inside the unit which were causing an intermittent operation and could not be rectified - thus the whole new mechatronic. Car works fine now.

Loose pins in the gearbox on a 2 year old car??? Sounds like DSG still has a few bugs

Manual gearboxes have problems so unless you can find a manual gearbox in a production car that has NEVER failed your argument is pretty pointless.

The DSG is effectively two manual gearboxes with computer controlled changes. I'd bet that the manual gearbox side of the DSG is more reliable than most other manual gearboxes out there. A few mechatronics units failing and being replaced under warranty is hardly an indication of widespread problems and the same applies to a recall to flash some firmware.

Of the hundreds of DSG-equipped cars I've dealt with over the last 2 years, I've only replaced 3 DSG transmissions. The third being today.

There's probably a more-acurate statistic out there, but I fail to see the merit in looking it up.
