Hey guys I'm currently looking at DSG R32's, and I'm a little concerned about the reliability of these gearboxes, especially as its likely the car I'll be buying will be out of warranty. So I'd like to take the car to someone who knows about them (the DSG more specifically) and make an assessment. Is there anyone in Sydney who does these sort of inspections? I don't think dealers would be much more help, nor would average mechanics due to the complexity of the gearbox. Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers!

Thanks for that guys. I am starting to test drive some cars now, what are some of the faults I should be looking out for when driving the DSG's? I understand one of the faults include a slow take off or something, what should I look out for specifically?

Extreme jerkiness on take-off. By extreme I mean not just a slight amount, but a huge amount. Also check for it free-spinning, ie. after it downshifts, it feels like it has selected nuetral for a few seconds.

Slow take offs or launches? I test drove a demo at a dealer yesterday and it felt a bit jerky at low speeds pulling out of the driveway but once I was away it was fine.

Mainly slow-paced stuff around carparks, and gentle take-offs.
