  • MK5 coil packs

    Having recently purchased my MK5 2.0 FSI sportline,

    I had a coil pack go on me on my way to getting timing belt done at my local VW place.

    Before they fitted a new coil pack, they pointed out to me that the other 3 should be replaced, I declined as I was an expensive service already.

    Since then I have managed to get some new coil packs cheap from fleabay and am wondering ;

    Should I wait for the old ones to die, and than replace?

    Should I replace the other 3 now? and keep the old ones for an emergency?

    If / when I do replace them do I need to have any codes reset at VW afterwards?

    Any advice appreciated

    thanks

    Is your car still under warranty?
    I had an ignition coil go faulty on me, and all 4 were replaced under warranty.
    The general consensus is, when one goes bad, the others will follow suit shortly.

      nah no warrenty, I bought the car privately.

      So after they are swapped does the car need to be told or reset by a VW computer?
