Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • My r32 on a skid pan

Went for a session with a few mates a month or so back - the AWD doesnt really go sideways due to either a) too much grip b) crap driver c) both!

which im happy as it wasnt purchased to drift

Good experince under the conditions all the same, wont be going back any time soon tho

Nice Vid & looked like fun.

Those are good days, did one with drivegti.com at the Mount Cotton skid pan.

Goes to show how well the car handles (the FWD'ers didn't do too bad either).

Was actually hard to get it sideways or lose it at all in the R32 without using the hand break. Even then you had to apply it really late and turn the wheel suddenly. Guy had the Haldex Gen II on his S3 and could get all wheel drifting going easier.

Shows how safe these cars are but still wouldn't push it too much the wet as there are smaller margins on the street as far as hitting something if you lose it.

That looks great, would love to try it one day.

Even though you disengaged the ESP, did you feel it correct you?

Yes especially once the tires started to get traction again, you can see it happened quite abit..

Not that i care, as i purchased the car to stay on the road
