Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Reasonable Expectations~ dealer service

I had the Golf GT Sport TDI floated to the dealership this morning at 8:30 after it kept on stalling die to an airflow / fuel problem. I ended up calling the dealer at 4:15 curious about their progress. I was somewhat amazed to hear that they were very busy and not able to get a technician to asses the vehicle. What would be a reasonable response for a dealer. I was very disappointed and talked with the service manager as the car just had its 60000 service last Tuesday. Service manager indicated that they would look at it first thing in the morning. Am I being unreasonable in expecting them to call me before 4:15 with a heads up on their business?

Nah I don't think you're being unreasonable at all - but I'm a bit of a pr*ck, I would have been on the phone to them at 9am......

If they told you this morning that they would look at it, yes, they should have called.

If they were not clear that they could not look at it today when you dropped it off, they have room for improvement.

I perservered with the dealer where I purchased my car until 60,000k....I then gave up on them. The new dealer I go to now has a very good VW service guy that handles all the bookings and communications. I am much happier.

        Hi John,
Which dealer are you going to now and who was the one you used earlier. So that we can also use your recommendation.

I was going to Southern Classic Cars in Wollongong, now I go to McGraths in Sutherland....neither would help you much at Epping I imagine.
