  • Newbie with R32 questions

    Hi All

I just got myself an 2008 R32 with DSG and love everything about it. However I have some general possibly stupid questions.

a)Is it possible to wheel spin a R32 with DSG??
b)Will a Haldex controller allow me to put all power to the rear wheels?
c)Lastly can you automatically fold in the side mirrors?

P.S. EOI a Suzuki GSXR K5 750 for sale, pm me.

    Cheers

    Ben

a Don't see why not, do you need to though? That's one of the benefits of 4wd
b Pretty sure you can't make that happen. IIRC best you can get is 50/50. Google would reveal the answer.
c I'll get in first with reading the manual.

    Welcome to the forum too.

      Congrats on the new car

      a) Find a paddock or a skid pan
      b) I thought the whole point of the Haldex Controllers was to control where the drive went
      c) It's an option iirc, twist the mirror knob 180 degrees from 0 and you'll find out

that no Golfs sold in the country came with that option and to retrofit it with new parts from the dealer will cost you over $1500. As it mentions in the manual as well they don't fold flat but only back around 45 degrees.

          a) yes, but with ESP off, and only quite briefly before the back wheels kick in
          b) not quite, power to the rear wheels is based on electronic detection of front wheel slippage, but the haldex+controller can send more power to the back more quickly than stock. Haldex AWD system is still prodominantly FWD biased.
          c) like maverick said, no you can't. and even if they did, is pointless because they dont fold back far enough anyway

As mentioned, the point of an AWD like that fitted to your car is to avoid this sort of thing from happening.

b)Will a Haldex controller allow me to put all power to the rear wheels?
Again, it's an AWD, why would you want to do this?

It's a great car you got there, congratulations to you. But, it's never designed to do burnouts in.

Its not permanent awd. Its still front wheel bias. By tranferring more torque to the rear quicker you can eliminate the understeering tendancies
