  • MKV 2nd Hand servicing

Hi guys just bought a second hand GTI MY08 from a dealer.

I checked the servicing manual it had been serviced at 5,000kms and must of missed the 15,000km service. The last stamped service was at 29,000 (from the dealer) which they didn't replace the oil filter or plugs. Do you think i should put it in for a full service once i pick it up? The dealer said that they don't usually change the plugs until 60,000kms does this seem like bollocks to you?

Bought it from Barloworld in Fivedock. It now has 33,000kms on it.

Any help would be appreciated and sorry if this is in the wrong thread section

Not replacing the oil filter seems a bit strange but yeah plugs are long life.

For peace of mind it may be worth doing another oil/filter change just so you know youre ok for the next 15,000kms. Shouldnt cost too much from an independant. If the filter hasnt been changed since the 5000km mark then id be concerned.

If the car was serviced at a VW dealer they can check to see if the 15,000 service was performed.

I doubt that a VW dealer would change the oil and not the filter, most likely it wasn't put down on the invoice.
