  • Anyone installed an exhaust upgrade on a Jetta 1.4L 118TSI engine with the 7DSG?

Hi Guys, just curious if anyone has done this?? I've been searching but cannot find an upgrade option...... they all seem to be for the 2.0L engines!
Does the twincharge setup require a certain back pressure??
(seen many Subaru twin turbo setups with blown primary turbos from exhaust upgrades that buggar the backpressure requirements).

        True.
PolarBear did his own as I remember - simple as deleting the final muffler box I believe.

          lol..
.. i'm trying to find a turbo back option for mine; don't know about the OP.
          suggestions welcome.

if you do an exhaust upgrade, is it advisable to cut the bumper/rear valance so the exhaust tips are exposed, or does it not matter? (not asking from the point of looks, but from the point of efficiency/safety etc)

to the OP, i did get a 'ballpark quote' once on a custom job and it was around $1400 for a catback.

I would have thought that the Milltek 1.4TSI version would fit the jetta??? maybe send them an email and ask.

I'll prob. be getting a milltek one within a couple of months so I'll ask around if you want..

if you could.. i'm waiting to hear back from APR.. i spoke to golfwagen (stockists of milltek in WA) last yr and they said there's nothing out for the 1.4 yet.

i don't know if this makes a diff.. the golf GT 1.4 is a 6spd dsg and has 125kW. the jetta 1.4 is a 7spd dsg and has 118kW.. that.. and the jetta is a slightly longer vehicle. i'm assuming you can't just buy the milltek for the GT and put that onto a jetta. maybe someone more knowledgeable than i can provide an answer.

Milltek have had a TSI solution for nearly 2 years, so I don't know what golfwagen are talking about

BTW here's a couple of old YouTube videos of the Milltek on TSIs:

And another for a Cox system:

(being Cox, I shudder to think of the cost... )

I checked the links out. Nice, but they're all for the Golf GT which may have a 6 spd dsg and puts out 125kW. The 1.4 tsi that the OP and I are inquiring about is in the Jetta; may have a 7 spd dsg and puts out 118kW.

Golfwagen, as I mentioned above, is the stockist/authorised dealer in Western Australia of Milltek exhausts. This is the response I received in Oct 2009.

"To answer your question re the Milltek exhaust: Yes we do stock them and are the only authorised dealers in WA but unfortunately they don't yet make a system for the Jetta TSI. They are updating constantly so I'll let you know then if they add it to their range".

I've been looking at Milltek's website and I haven't seen any announcements for the 1.4 tsi that's on the Jetta.

So the thing is, does the one that's meant for the Golf GT also fit in the Jetta? (I'm assuming based on the reply I had from the authorised dealer that it doesn't). Or, for that matter, do any exhaust upgrade packages for the 1.8 or 2.0 Jetta's fit in the 1.4 Jetta?

We can build a TSI full exhaust - downpipe if there is enough interest.

We can mate it to the APR RSC catback's which we already have for both the Golf & Jetta (different length systems).

For the TSI downpipe, the MKV & MKVI versions are different (in the golf) so we have to make a business case on which model to produce.

                        Just need enough numbers.

Oh, we already have stage 2 software for the TSi's ready to go.

Does this mean that the current RSC catback for the Jetta 2.0T works on the Jetta 1.4 TSI? Do you expect the pricing for the full exhaust system to be roughly the same for the 1.4 TSI as it is now for the 2.0T?

I am interested depending on the pricing. There seems to be a dearth of options for the 1.4 Jetta at present, short of custom jobs.
