Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

your with RACV = a good thing

Take it to Superfinish in Moorabbin = they are approved by RACV and complete all the work then give the quote to RACV..

They are approved BMW dealer and the only shop i and my family have ever taken our cars too!

They wont do dodgy things like give you a body kit instead etc, but there work is second to none and VERY expensive

Good to know, thanks Nathan... I may have to take my ride there, as I kinda scraped the diver's side bumper, (yep was really pissed off with myself and obviously don't have parking sensors). Had the car 2 months, most of the scrape is on the black plastic bumper, but the top is on the paint Well, at least I'm man enough to say "my bad". Anyway onto topic, sitting in my previous car (black Magna), some dumb b%$#ch threw her drivers side door open.....welll immediatley jumped out and had a crack at her. She said "sorry" and walked off.

In a restaurant about 5 min later telling the mrs & friends what a stupid person she was "I was using unsavory language" and her and her fanily were sitting right behind us and heard every word!!! Classic

Well finally got the car reapired and returned, I missed my baby. AHHHHHH! that lovley Turbo Diesel Power.
I was hoping to post some shots of before and after photo's. Seems a bit complex to post photo's on this forum. So any advise and I'll try to post some shots latter.

Long delays getting the car into a shop, just had to wait till after Christmas. But it gave me time to find a good pannel shop. There was some political fun in getting the proper repairs done. But Push came to shove and its all repaired properly.

There were delays, mostly in getting parts from VW that were of good standard. We received 6 Radiator suppot pannels in all. All were damaged to some extent. It seems like they need to learn how to pack new items, all had packing damage, though minor. VW could not find an undamaged one. So I picked the best.

The car is now repaired and exept for a wrong numberplate surround and a non perfect radiator support. The repairs are exelent and of a very high standard. I was impressed with the Pannel Shops work and attitude. I did push them on the point that I was fussy, for the most part they treated the car well (probly wrapped it in cotton wool).
There are a couple of minor issues, which will be sorted but dam good.

The finish or repairs cannot be faulted. So I'm happy to recomend them. RACV approved repairer, ULTRAFINISH in Berwick. Hope they dont mind the plug.

I just stumbled across this thread and thought I might join in. I had my mk4 gti for a little over 3 weeks when I parked it in the Queen street mall Myer center car park in Brisbane. Someone in a white car reversed into the front of mine and there was massive paint transfer on the front left bumper and quarter panel not to mention a nice big dent on the front left wheel arch. No note, nothing and I didn't even have insurance for my car yet, was pretty disappointing, though I was thankful it was only cosmetic, still cost the better part of $1000 to get fixed though, needless to say I got insurance 3 days later. What ever happened to that little voice in your head telling you to do the right thing?

I gotta nice story to relay:

I little while back i was dropping some tipsy friends home (des driver) when one opened his door curb side and SMACK straight into the corner of a hard metal Aust post box (little one on pole).

So i get a great @$*# off dent and he says to me "you shouldn't have pulled up next to that... I didn't see it"

            whaaaaaaaat??!!!!

Could that possibly be my fault? I was told when to pull over (near to house, not many places to stop as main road) and I was the por sack doing the taxi duties!!!
