Anyone know if there is a solution for adding channel control to the steering wheels controls of the GTi? Volume control is not enough for me
Gotta be able to change the channels too. Can this be retro-fitted by a specialist ? VW Aust have already advised they have no solution ....... HELP !

I don't think you can, cos it would require pulling steering wheel apart and you radio too. Someone needs to tap into it and connect all the wiring.Originally posted by JoBeAnyone know if there is a solution for adding channel control to the steering wheels controls of the GTi? Job would be too expensive. Better off is to buy one with remote control and tack it on to you steering wheel

Found out more info today - dealer advised that radio channels can be changed on models with Sat Nav. Would that also allow for changing up and down on tracks in CD tracks ?
I did not want to buy a GTi with SatNav but now am seriously considering it. I know its a lot of additional $$$ to pay just for convenience of "surfing" radio/CD's. Am I crazy ?

I dont have Sat Nav but all my buttons (bar phone) work as i have one of the first MkV GTI's and for some reason they have the buttons working. (Perhaps some of the 2006 ones did too..not sure)Originally posted by VWGTi View Postmaybe we could get some feedback from guys who have the sat-nav installed and see how useful this really is? for the amount of $$$ u have to pay for it - golly u gotta have a tree that's growing money in your backyard!
To be honest if they didnt work I wouldnt be losing any sleep over it and wouldnt be spending a great deal of money to get them working. And i wouldnt be buying a Sat nav (and a crappy one at that
) just to get the buttons working!!! lol

Menu is on the left, below mute? It toggles through CD, FM1, FM2, AM etcOriginally posted by Subie25L View PostWhat does the menu button do for you ?
Mute does what a mute button is supposed to do and all the buttons on the right do as they are supposed to.
Just the 2 phone buttons dont work.1986 MkII Golf GTI 16V (Sold), 2005 MkV Golf GTI (Sold), 2007 Polo GTI (Sold), 2011 Polo 66TDI (Selling), 2012 Passat 125 TDI Bluemotion, 2013 Scirocco R (Due October!)
