  • Clock accuracy

This morning driving to work I happened to glance at the clock on the MFD just as the time pips on 3AW sounded. And bang on the third pip, the clock changed right on the hour.

I thought this is strange, as I've had the car for a year now and never had to adjust the clock save for changing the DST setting. This clock is either very accurate or it's somehow linked to the RDS function on the headunit. I think the latter, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hmmm . . so far 61 views but no reply?

Must have stumped even the experts.

I have to adjust my two for DST, but otherwise they both seem pretty accurate

I've noticed the same thing - never had to adjust my clock in 2 years and it's always bang on-time.

Now that I think of it, I haven't had to change mine either, although can't remember if I changed it to daylight saving time??

At the pre-delivery inspection, I set them to the same time as my phone.

Whatever happens after that is beyond me!

Well, given no one has offered any sound explanation, I'm going to have to theorise that the RDS in the headunit must play a part.

I think magic happens and makes the time right.

Im thinking with modern electronics and divide by timers you can get to about a second a year cheaply on any electronic time.
