Pretty sure we all have the problem

But I believe the headlight sensor is behind the rear-view mirror? Could be wrong..

Rain / Light Sensor is located at the top centre of the windscreen. You can see it wrapped around the black ceramic dots at the top of the screen. It looks like a grey jelly if that makes sense.
Might help to clean your windscreen if you are having problems, or take it to VW for a check!

        Perhaps your car is arse-about!
There is also a sensor on the back cover of the rear view mirrir bottom left corner

That's for the auto dimming mirror and has nothing to do with the headlight sensor.

How come the auto-dimming sensor is on the opposide side to the actual mirror itself? I thought the sensor below the mirror was for the auto-dimming..

i have the auto dimming mirror and there is only one sensor on the back. I think it measures the light in front of the mirror for some reason.... no idea

The auto dimming sensor is in front of the mirror so that it can monitor the light levels between the front of the car and the back.

When the light difference reaches a set level the mirror will auto dim for you.
