Cold air intake - short cut? And - bov question

Hi,

1) I've noticed some cai kits sold on ebay for the mk5, which do not require replacement of the engine cover.

They are basically just a pod filter fitted to the front, with the airscoop thing removed. Does one just remove the panel filter from the airbox under the engine cover? Or leave it there, which would mean two filters?duh?

I am looking for the most cost effective way of getting some more induction growl noise. I have replaced original panel with k&n panel which has helped a bit.

2) Secondly places tryin to find a bov in Perth is not easy without ordering something from overseas eg forge. Do the calibre and one's which are sold like at repco etc work for the golf?

Just go the Neuspeed CAI, ok you lose the original motor cover but the induction sound is noice Added bonus of not needing to buy a seperate BOV as if your at WOT and back off you get the same effect.

what he said, you'll get enough noise from the factory plumb back through a proper intake. If you want more you can get those forge spacers. Just get an evoms or a neuspeed while the dollar is good, dont bother with those other dodgy ones.

Not completely sure but pretty sure you need a relocation kit to fit an aftermarket universal BOV to a Golf. Stick to the factory ones.

Thanks guys. The wife is now driving the car 90 percent of the time now and is not impressed with my idea of the whooooooooosh... Will prob go cai. jj
