Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • After first Service for the R32 - why is the car sound different

    Hi guys,

I've just got my first service for 3000km done from euroautomotive(which include checking overall of the car + oil and oil filter change).

(My car had a GIAC and VF engineering Cold air intake)

The first thing i noticed after the serviced, the intake bark from the VF intake (deep growl) that used to happen at about 1500rpm - 2000rpm somehow is gone.

And the exhaust note somehow does not sound as raspy as before, but little bit louder - sound closer to R32 mk 4 .

I'm not sure if this is normal ><

And perhaps my question is it possible that the ECU software (GIAC) be removed by the service center ?

    Thanks for all the advice

If they did software updates it would be back to stock tune.

I don't think they will have the software update. Its independent mechanic (specialised in porsche).

Sounds like you answered part of your own questions.
It may be that they did a throttle reset so after you drive hard a couple of times it may be the same.
I guess you could ask them 1st before asking here maybe ??

Did they put the right oil in? Does it specify it on the invoice?

Is anything loose under the bonnet?

Dont see the problem here, it's good to check out any different sounds/concerns??

But yeah the service place could help you more than advice on here if you raise it with them.

Different weights of engine oil can change the characteristics of the engine, as they were a porsche specialist it would be worth checking to see if it were a VW approved oil.

The second half of my post (that you choose to ignore) suggested that he open the bonnet and look for anything loose or missing which can change the intake sound.

If you don't have any advice to offer the OP perhaps troll elsewhere instead of trying to pick arguments.

ahaha you and your vw approved oils.. even if they put 25-50 mineral oil in it its not going to change the sound of his intake or exhaust. And being a porsche specialist and no doubt knowing a thing or two about performance engines they would've put a decent synthetic oil in his car so I find your assumption stupid.

                      There's a simple saying;

"If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all."

If you don't have anything useful or positive to contribute to the thread keep it to yourself then. Comments such as the ones I've deleted out of here don't help anyone.

                      Cheers,

if some codes were thrown when they did the service like maf if they turned the ignition on without it plugged in then it is possible for the chip to go into a limp mode, has it lost any power? maybe just get someone with vagcom to scan it for any codes to be sure
