  • My horn's gone all Polo on me

Today, while road-raging some lady that cut me off at Indro, I noticed that my horn has changed tone.

The right horn (next to the washer reserve) simply doesn't work anymore. I pulled the grill off to see if perhaps the cable had come off but it hasn't, it's still there and secure.

What can I do other than taking it to VW, booking it in so they can check it out then booking it in again so they can change it?

    Cheers!

Hahahaha...When I read the title, I thought your horn had morphed itself into an aditional powering device which allowed your tractor with mags to attain Polo GTI like speeds, otherwise unknown to any other car!!

Ahhahahaha good one Ryan, but I think having a horn that sounds like a Polo is as close as I wanna get to having one

Bring it down, which horn does it need. low tone or high tone,if its lost its "manly grunt" then sounds like only the girly high tone is working and you need to get the low tone replaced maybe. If you can see the horn, get the part number off the inop horn and ring VW parts to see if they have one in stock, most likely they wont and will have to get one from Sydney....VW....

This is the cause of your car riding at the height of a 4 Wheel drive! The air is thin up there!

If there is an adjustment screw and locknut somewhere on the exterior it might be worth trying to adjust it if you don't want to bother taking it in. Don't turn the screw too far in either direction, usually 1/2 to 2 full turns will do the trick if it is going to help at all. You may even be able to tune them both in to resonate with each other so they are a bit louder.

HAHA that's almost as good as Blitzen's comment! But what did you expect? It is a tractor after all....

The car's still under warranty so in order for me to make the claim, they'll still have to inspect it right? It has lost the manly grunt as you described and now sounds like something's got it by the balls.

As said above, there car's still under warranty so I'm not too gain to go in there and start playing with things. All I did do was take the grill covering the towing eye off to check whether it had come unplugged or something. Thanks for your advice though

Shouldn't be saying this but it seriously sounds so gay now that it's lost its deep tone. I called Austral this morning and I've gotta book it in for them to check it out, then book it in again to repair it.

I would go out and buy another but I can't be sure it's the horn itself or wires leading to it.

                    OMG!

Today, I had to use my horn too - on a bloke who cut me off from a left turn only lane (thought it didn't apply to him! HA!)

                    Except mine sounded oh-so-deep-and-manly

I think I'll just live with the poofy little horn for the next 10,000km until my next service is due.

Why don't you two just swap horns to suit your gender? Easy fix.

Could it be full of water for some reason or is it totally not working at all?

Or should I perhaps swap my gender to suit my horn?

Actually, doesn't the Caddy have the same horn as the Polo?

It's completely dead, not even a muffled tune coming out.

                              Let's swap cars!

I think maca's Jetta would suit me just fine. I look goood in black .. except for the horn

Don't know if I could cope with his fuel consumption though
