Yoko Advan Neova AD08 Feedback

Hi,

I am looking for feedback, comments or reviews on the Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 as all four of my tyres are due to be changed and I am considering these for my next set.

My 07 gti is running stock 17" denvers and suspension. The only performance mod is an APR stage 1 tune (which is bloody awesome - cheers Guy H).

I mainly do highway driving and usually have a mad half hour every day or so.

Car has covered 71,000kms, I currently have Bridgestone potenza RE001's on the front which replaced the original conti2's at 36,000kms and the original conti2's still on the back.

Aren't the AD08's the semi-slicks? I've heard very good reviews about them but the only thing that would probably steer myself away from buying it would be the price and milage. Are you having traction problems at the moments with your current setup?

Ive tried only S drives and that was on my prev merc SLK soooo.... on Monday a set of 235/40/18 S drives goes on the R32

Had AD08's since early October....I have exactly the same set up as you...MkV GTI stock aside from APR Stage 1 ECU.

The tyres are the best gripping tyres I have had, and I have had Falken RT615 semi slicks and also Pirelli Rosso's and the Conti CS2 OEM jobbies. They are brilliant in the dry after they are warm, and they are good enough in the wet provided your not trying to lay down a lemans starting time (as good as any decent tyre).

I can't comment on life, but I got 17000 out of Falkens and these have more tread. I only got 22000 out of the Rosso and 27000 out of the conti's, so hopeful these will hit 20,000.

Also the AD08's are available from $310 a corner so are the cheapest I have tried, I paid $340 because I needed to go through a lease company (plus I needed them quick and I didn't want to travel 70k each way to save $120, time was against me)

I'm seriously considering the AD08's as well, how is the road noise from them compared with the Conti CS2?

Its been 4 sets of tyres and a couple of years since the CS2's but I can say the road noise is way better than the Falken RT615, and definitely not intrusive on a decent road surface.

Thanks John Deere, I think the keyword I was looking for was "not intrusive". This really helps me make my decision.

You wont be unhappy. They are the best tyres I have had on it! I am at Oran Park on Saturday so I will be able to report on how they go on the track after that if your interested.

I expect they will be quite good, just a matter of how much they wear....my Falkens looked like this (they were on the tread markers when I started) after last track day so I am not easy on the tyres:

OK so I used the Advan AD08's at Oran Park on Saturday in around 27 degree heat. Oran Park has a series of hard left hand corners so the front right tyre cops a flogging!

Two mates had road tyres, one with cheap Maxxis (WRX) and the other with Bridgestone RE050's (MX5). The Maxxis got chewed to the max and really need replacement, the bridgestones look worse for wear but are still usable and the Yoki's stood up to the challenge admirably.

The Advans have done only around 3000k so still heaps of meat, the only issue I have is some uneven wear on the tread blocks, but nothing serious. The tyres stood up very well to the heat of a track day and 188kW/410Nm (Flywheel estimated) through the front wheels!!

Here is a pic two days after the track day (forgot to take a pic on the day, but they looked similar!)



They faired alot better than the falkens, but remember the falkens were at Eastern Creek (faster track) on a 35 degree day and on their last legs...the Yoki's were brand new.

I do think the Yoki's are a better tyre though.

I think it depends what you want to use them for. Ultimately as far as dry grip and pure performance goes, yes the Neova AD08 will be better than the V103.

The V103 should last longer, be quieter, be more comfy and should be better in the wet, but at the track will not be able to cope as well with the heat of fast laps.

Its a road spec compound versus a race spec compound, not really apples with apples.

Cheers, I'm trying to decide whether to go for a high performance (ie dry grip) tyre again or passenger/sports tyre. My Azenis RT-615's have been great but don't last long and I dont track it either. The good thing is it doesn't rain that much up in BNE, but wouldn't mind safer grip in the wet.

I have gone through two sets of RT615....the AD08's are a better tyre on the track and in the rain.....not sure if they will last longer, only done 3000k so far, but they look pretty good still.

The AD08's are fine in the wet, just dont try and break land speed records.
