why no antenna?

i have been looking every mkv golf i pass and notice some have no antenna on their roof, and some have(mine dose). just wondering why some don't?how can i do it?do think i can now as it will have a hole if i remove it.what spec. is that?

Mine was delivered jun05 without a roof mounted antenna, I believe there were complaints about the radio performance & the rear antenna was the fix. I've had no problems with mine.

I put one on my '06 MKV and it looks way better than the standard one, with no loss in reception quality.

ALL use the demister wires as an aerial and for for a second aerial early models use demister wires and later models use a roof mounted aerial. Early models without a roof mounted antenna have a diversity box mounted under the drivers seat.

I'll be putting some info up on my website in the next few days as I have one here to modify for a 2005 that now has a RNS 510.

Basically it takes two signals and chooses the best one and sends it to the headunit. In later models the head unit wants to see the two signals and it will choose the best one.

I have a Jul 2005 build, 2006 complied, MkV Sportline. It has no roof mounted antenna and I was wondering the same. I felt ripped off that mine didn't have an antenna. Having said that I now prefer the look without it, radio reception is fine. I assume the aerial is the demister and maybe I have a diversity box as well although I don't see one under the drivers seat.
