I was quoted $540 per corner from Bridgestone - I'm sure I could have got them cheaper some where else but not for............US$208ea plus US$300 shipping!
Do the math 4 x $540 = $2160
versus 4 x $231(US.90c/AUS$1) = $924 + $333 shipping = AUS$1257
1257/2160 = 58% Even if they do charge me duty, I will still be better off!
And the stupid thing is, bridgestone told me they didnt know how long it would take to get the tyres in as they were " a liitle different"! WTF! It took 7days from the US to my freakin door!
The reason I got the re050a's...I have run them on my heavily modified 3rb liberty and also on my honda accord euro before that. I found them to be a fantastic handling tyre, quiet and lasted 40,000km (on the lib anyway).
Just for info I was told Bob Jane will have these for about $300 on special about now if anyone interested without needing to get sent from USA.
Works out same as tyre rack inc del.

I got a good quote on 4x 225/40/R18 F1 Asymmetrical from tirerack for US $940 shipped. It would be worth ordering two at a time as it would most likely be over AUD $1000. Happy with the price and they are an awesome tyre, just getting a bit more out of mine before i throw them.
Wouldn't mind knowing the difference between RE050A and RE001. Aren't the RE050A fitted OEM on a lot of cars which may push the price up? I originally thought RE001 were better (more aggressive tread pattern) but not sure as they may be cheaper.
Just spoke to Bob Jane-Their cheapset price on re050a 225/40/18 is $496. They know nothing about a special for $300. They did confirm the price on 245/40 R19 for $369 in their catalogue. But as this fits a VE commodore they would have a lot more of these tyres.
The difference bewteen the adrenalin re001 and the re050a's is the re050a's are the same tyre but with comfort built-in. They are supposed to handle the same but less harsh.
I rang Ringwood. The guy who told me it was coming now says only for the size G Rig listed. (245/40 R19 for $369)
I was informed there was going to be a special at end of year when I got my Yokos but didnt want to wait that long.
Sorry re the mis info.

Good read about R32 upgrades here, interesting stuff about the Haldex and the upgrade sounds awesome, dare i ask how much it was to get installed??
Matt
I picked the Haldex Gen2 up 2nd hand from Lance B for $1k. New they are $2k. I got it installed for $140. The remote switch was $699 plus another $100 or so fitted. Not exactly cheap but insignificant compared to the cost of the car and the difference without it.
Haldex and the switch have gone up in price a lot since I bought mine. I will probabaly go with a golf R/S3 my10 that come with gen iv which is better.
Well I have read through this thread on MKV.com and re-read it at least 3-4 times and I have decided to go with the HPA KW SHS coilovers. They ended up costing AUS$1,630 delivered. Hopefully they will go under the customs radar but if not oh, well. When I first bought my R32 the previous owner had CS2 tyres on the front and Hankooks on the back. Since then I have, installed a Haldex Gen2, APR tune and replaced the tyres with a set of Bridgestone REO50a's from the tirerack at a ridiculous price. The car now handles 25-30% better than it did without exaggeration. I thinks the SHS will complete the picture without going overboard. Although I could probably be swayed (excuse the pun) in to fitting a set of ARB's.
Will be interesting to see how long they take to come in. I ordered my tyres from tirerack on 22/12 and they arrived on my doorstep 29/12!
SHS should be a good choice, great value. My H&R coilovers were about $2200 (fully landed price) for Performalink in NZ.
Neither are really ideal for the track being height only adjustable but for the odd day no problems. It's good not to go too overboard and get something comfortable but firm for the streets.
We have a selection of FK Coilovers for the Mk5 R32 as well, the Konigsports and Silverline X+ both use a Koni shock which offers adjustable dampening. I've run the Konigsports on my personal cars and been extremely happy with them.
