Funny thread, sounds like youre headed in the right direction now...
If you've got the cash to be spending, I'd get rid of the cheap tyres, the only connection between your vehicle and the ground is a crucial component, especially if you are talking about under steering.
Are the wheels stock? Has the previous owner made any changes?
I know the last thing you feel like doing is reading, but there is so much valuable info in these threads if you take the time (I'd say a weekend) you will be much better informed about what has worked for others or where your money is best spent. People will tend to get upset if they've poured their time into reviews / writeups and you come along and bag the car without having read the hundreds of other posts as to what others have done to improve their handling.
USD is teh awesome at the moment... I bought mine from DBC Performance. Good bunch to deal with.
Just got an email back from DBC, they can ship to oz for $375 insured.
Yes noone the tyres are definitely a weak link. Not sure why people would get upset. If people didn't want to contribute why did I get 6 pages worth of comments? I'm not bagging the car, I like the car. Jeez why is everyone so sensitive.
Drove the R32 through some really windy bends today, went through one that had a dip and sharp left hander. To my surprise the dub sat really well throught the corner. Very balanced and you can feel the back end tucking in nicely. My latest opinion here is that the chassis of the car is very well balanced, the suspension is ok to good and the tyres are crap. So I've decided to get some new tyres and pss10's from dbc performance. Has anyone other than blue32 had any dealings with them? Be nice to hear some one bought something from them recently. Only issue I will have is getting them fitted. Does anyone have any ideas who could fit them in Adelaide other than manta racing who wants to charge me 3 times the amount to supply them?
why don't you get used it before imagining problems and making modifications
It seems you're now getting the hang of it and realising the 'dub' is better sorted out than you had imagined. Don't pretend you know better than VW engineers (I know many on this forum would disagree - Transporter and Maverick excluded), so take your time; enjoy and then after a few months with the car, if you feel you need to, then consider changes. By all means, your first mod would be changing the tyres, but for now, leave the wheels alone. Get to know your car first. Enjoy!

I think you'll find the stock suspension and setup would still be better than most cars out there. Mods just take it to the next level of performance. It does still oversteer stock though.
Tyres are a good mod in themselves (stickier/good ones vs crap ones).

While there is merit in what you say, keep in mind that the car is also engineered to appeal to "the median" rather than the extreme. If you look at the specs of the OPs Lib then you might find that he's outside the median. Truly, his Lib is quite unique as far as 3.0RBs go.
I do agree that mods should be made incrementally. Gives you a chance to assess the worth of the mod.
To the OP: Kumho KU36 from option1 garage or Goodyear assymetrics from tirerack?
carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums
Thanks guys it's all good advice from everyones individual perspective. I got a feel for the car's chassis when it hit the bottom of the dip in the turn. This is when the supsension is compressed (more like coilovers would feel) and not over extending like they do on undualtions. Took a round-a-bout on a steep incline tonight, the struts extend to far and even the esp couldnt' reel in the loss of traction (I understand that this is partially the tyres fault). I have driven this way home every night for over a year since I got the lib modded and even with bald RE050's on the front it NEVER loses traction on that round-a-bout. This is what I'm used to, a firm ride and low centre of gravity a real go-kart feel but with hint of luxury.
Anyone know a place in Adelaide I can get some bilstein pss10's fitted?
I'm open to tyre options brad there seem to be so many to choose from. I have been a big fan of Bridgestone RE050's.
PS who is the OP? Is that me? Other person? Obiwan Penobi? Otter's Penis?
