The tail lights are one of the design highlights of the Jetta and while I know those 3-series type lights are just a mimicing of the style of the MKVI Golf, it makes it look boring.
Ah well, shall be holding onto ours for some years yet! At about 4000kms p.a. it should last about 30 years
Interior changes, specification tweaks. New entry level model - 1.6 TDI for $28,990 with claimed fuel efficiency of 4.9L/100kms. 2.0 TSI is $38.990, I guess the slightly cheaper price is due to lowering of import duties?
At the launch,VW announced they have sold 12000 Jettas locally, and are happy with the Jettas sucess, but seem to be getting far more aggressive ,with much more competitive pricing, new features, and new engines and a wide choice of models.
The Jetta must be the best value for money model that VW offers, and one of the best value for money cars on the market in general.
I've actually just realised VGA released an entry level 2010 Jetta 77TDI by DionM's post ... hmmm... 0-100 km/h in 12 sec for $28,990?
IMHO I don't see the value in that unless if you are just looking at fuel economy of diesel. I'd go for the 118TSI for $2000 extra and yet only 1.3sec slower than the 147TSI
I think they are hitting the fleet market as well. My friend can pick a 118TSI as a company car (or a Mazda 6 or Liberty). They used to get Commodore Acclaims.

Not all about speed. It's a nice car with low fuel economy for a low price. Ticks a lot of boxes for a lot of people. I wouldn't buy one, but I can see who would.

I thought the same thing when I saw that list. But it's a good way for VW to enter the niche that is large cars at small prices. Sure it's not quick but that's alot of car for that price (given it has the same equipment as the MY09s).

I am tempted to upgrade my polo to a jetta 118 tsi DSG, does anyone had a chipped one and tell me about how it goes? I am interested to compare the performance between the chipped jetta and my polo...
Found this tonight. Good to see they've finally introduced a 125TDI as an alternative to the flagship 147TSI (not that I ever had anything against that).

There's a few guys on here with chipped twincharger golfs. I think it gets up to about 150 kw/ 300 Nm.
Similar power to a chipped polo GTI, but the jetta is about 300-400kg heavier.
Hi,
Picked up my Jetta yesterday and guess what, it is a MY10 model. I will post photos soon but so far the interior changes I have been able to spot from MY09 are as follows.
1. Front parking sensors.
2. New stereo and AC panel.
3. New stearing wheel with different buttons.
4. Black trims instead of silver.
5. Full screen MFD with white display (instead of red).
6. The fuel and Oil gauges are inside the speedo meter and RPM meter.
Very excited. Odd thing was that the manaul provided was for the older model so I have to fight to get an updated manual. I also got a VW bluetooth and it works like a charm. The mic is also installed inside the top light panel so you cannot see.
Maneesh, looking forward to seing photos of your new Jetta.
Which model did you get...you must be thrilled that it is the new spec one.
Congratulations,and enjoy,enjoy,enjoy.
Sure you will.
