It can also be "fixed" by putting the seat belt on which is the idea behind the chime

The problem is if there is any significant weight on the seat it will set the chime off, i.e. putting a case of beer on the seat or your dog etc.

I thought a Dog had to be in the back with a proper dog harness on.

Put beer in fridge in boot........

I'm not sure if this works but try putting the middle seatbelt from the back in the front passenger's buckle..

thats the stupidest thing i've heard for a while, im sorry.

all that trouble to stop the chime. stick the beer in the boot, and the dog in the back ffs.

I think this is a legit problem...Sort of...I have had bag of shopping in the Polo's front seat set off the chime. For all of you haters, at least he has a mate to sit down and have a beer with, even if it his dog!!
Other than that, get in the boot with the beer, and let the dog drive...

8 replies and not a single proper answer or suggestion. the guy asked a question, why not help him without telling him how to live? even a street directory can set the sensor off

still not a fan of the idea but you could go to a wreaker and cut the latch off the corresponding seatbealt you want muted and use that as a key every time you go drinking with your dog

I didnt think it was that bad a question, the chime gives me the ****s too. The order of things I do when I start the car is get in, put the keys to accesories - which is where the chimes start, put the belt in and then start the car. The whole time after the car has been put to accesories it sits there beeping, even though the car is not on.

Now there'll prob be the genius answer to put the seat belt on before putting the key to accesories, but after many years of driving, it's not that easy to break a habit that you don't even think about doing. A proper solution to this would be good for me too
