Hi All,
My wife’s 05 Golf Mk5 developed an annoying problem with the radio/stereo, and it’s getting worse. It will turn itself on when the car is locked, with no one in it etc, regardless of whether it was left on or turned off before the ignition was switched off.
Went on hols a few weeks ago & left the Golf at home (and forgot to remove the radio fuse). Came back to a dead flat battery.
It is now also switching itself between radio & stereo while my wife is driving.
I have read about a software issue with the TDI radios but this sounds different. Any one had anything similar? I assume it will be an expensive fix at VW, but maybe an aftermarket radio/stereo will work out a lot cheaper. Will this then stuff up the steering wheel radio controls etc?
