  • Creaking Chassis/Body/Somthing else

    Hey guys,

I've got my 1st service coming up after having my GTI for 1yr now so my question will also be put forward to the service centre.

Ever since I've had my car it's chassis creaks and squeks while turning the steering, mainly on large turns. It also squeked once when I applied the brakes very quickly and the car 'leaned' forward.

Any ideas what it could be? Is it a major problem or do all new cars make this creaking noise?

    Thanks

Where abouts (what area of the car) is the creaking coming from?

Mine had a creak that appeared to come from just behind drivers door on hard right turns. Seemed to be the rubber door seal needed cleaning.

Mine appears to be coming from the Chassis/Axel area somewhere under the car.
Even happens if I brake hard

My Jetta creaks from fairly early days on the springs/suspensions every now & then... although not noticeable when driving (on noisy road), it can be noticeable on quiet road when hitting bumps or driving to a sloping road.

I get that too when going over drive ways sometimes, the door jams/rubbers seem to make a lot of noise on these cars where it meets the B-pillar, pretty flimsy.

My car creaks over speed bumps if taken on anything but straight angles, could be the suspension or chassis.. not sure

Ask them to lubricate the suspension next service, I did and it went away.

Sounds good, I'll get them to do that, hopefully it goes away after that.

Thanks for the help guys, if anyone else has any info pls let me know.

Do you know which parts would need lubrication? The rear doors can tend to get misaligned and could be those or the b-pillars moving too.. bit disappointed with the build quality and odd noises sometimes, still great cars.

could be whole range of things & without accully seeing and hearing it is almost impossilble to be certain
gl with it, im shore the dealership will be capable of fixing it and i really wouldnt worry about it being anything serious as it 95% chance isnt

i would love to take some people for a drive in my vr, they will hope back in there car and think it is a mute pillow on a distant fluffy cloud hahahahahhahahaa

Cheers, I know it isn't anthing serious but when you buy a new car you want it to be fairly perfect, so guess it's just being pedantic as far as any noise i hear!

The flamming passenger seat makes a sound when someone sits in it, still have to sort that out.

A B pillar can't move. It's part of the shell. These cars are so rigid the doors can flex when going up gutters and uneven ground.

Sorry i mean the lining inside where the seat belt thing is.. you can press it and it moves pretty easily.

Can pretty much guarantee any squeak/groan coming from the susp area will be from the suspension bushes, try lubing them, or you can always go for some nolathane replacements.
