Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Were you holding down the 'open' button for a long period of time as this can activate the windows. Same thing with holding down 'lock' it'll close your sunroof etc. You can change the settings. Have a look at the manual.

On another note (couldn't find it in the forum doing a search), I pick up a 2006 GTI next week and have noticed that all the windows can go up and down automatically except for the front passenger window operated from the passenger side.

Would anyone know how much this would cost to fix as this will affect the end purchase price.

        Thanks in advance.

I'm not quite sure what the problem is - can you describe what is actually happening, and also what you think should be happening in more detail please - then we may be able to give better advice.

When opening and closing each window using the up or down trigger on the inside of the car, the windows automatically wind up or down depending on which is triggered, which is a great feature. But when I tested the front passenger side window, the automatic feature didn't work.

To carry out the basic settings of your windows hold the ignition key ito the drivers door lock and turn the key to the unlock position and keep it held until all the windows go fully down and then turn the key the other way and hold so that the car locks and all the windows go fully up. After this then retry you auto window function from inside, if still not working may be dirty runners or faulty window motor or regulator. -VW-

it may also be a faulty window control module.
Had a similar issue with my 08 jetta. all windows except for one rear window worked on auto up or down from the drivers controls or the one on that door.
