  • R32 / Wheels World - Today

    Hi Guys -

So who was the R32 member who got to drive in my pirelli today?...

It was down at wheels world getting some adjustments made to the suspension, and a grey R32 pulled out just as I was going in to pick my car up......

    Cheers....

thats where I get my suspension work done. You know at wheels world they are not out thrashing your car around the neighbourhood. John at wheels world even took me for a lap in a GT2 porsche cup car that was getting new tyres.... the old slicks were still on the car and were going in the bin so he asked the owner who was there if he could take me around the block as I was droooling incredibly over it. Guy was a champ and I had such a ride. Man the sound of the flat 6 at high revs was

Yeh John's one of the very few people I trust with my keys.

Even if he were to thrash it (which I asked him too, I wanted to make sure the work he was doing could stand up to track work) - I trust him not to stack it. He's worked on cars worth far more than my golf - and his reputation in Perth is second to none.

I'm just curious as to whether or not the R32 who sat alongside him is a forum member.. John said he gave him a good ride, and I know what that probably means in my car.. haha.... Hold on to your block and tackle.

Anyway, ride height and stiffness/rebound is now absolutely bang on. I threw it into a corner so hard it actually started spinning the rear around (the stability control put the rear brakes on or something - Must have been doing 60-80km/h around a 90 degree hairpin)...... No bottoming out, and the car felt like it was on rails. Real go-cart feel to it now, but not too harsh over the bumps...... Bloody ripper KW.

Have you had it dyno'd yet? I'd be keen to see what it's pulling

Only had it at the dyno the once, and it was a pretty dodgy run.

It was wheel spinning pretty badly (smoke coming off the tyres) and the power curve was really lumpy. Made 170kw atw, on 3 runs - but every run had that
          wheel spin to redline.

So I don't really know what to do about it and I've not been back.

The removal of the screw in the wheel arch made all the difference. Allowed it to be lowered to where it should be without all that annoying rubbing.

It was also stiffened up somewhat, so now it rides real nice... I wouldn't want to take it out on a long country trip somewhere, but it's great when you're giving it the berries.

After our chat about the screw, I'm rubbing now that the new (ET46) wheels are on!
I think I need to push the screw up a bit more

You remove the screw completely mate. Push the plastic fender over the top of the screw's lip and you're away.

Very tasty wheels. You kept the original rubber on I see - smart move!.. Is gooood......

If you still rub, then you may need to stiffen up your KWs. What size wheels were they again? If they're wider than 18x8" then you might still have rubbing issues........

Those picks were taken at the little hospital/clinic in south perth right? My youngest one's ear specialist operates there..... I woulda had that larger turbo if it wasn't for that B#$)(*#d....

Our cars need to get together to get it on.... My car is the boy car though.

Pirelli's are already tinted on the rear windows and hatch.. It's a really strange green/grey colour tint - and it's in the glass, so it can't be removed.

I've tried finding a film to match it and gave up - nobody could (at least with the doods I tried) match it....

I didn't want a greeny/grey rear and a grey front.. It would look stupid..... So mine's the same, and yeah it looks a bit out of place.
