Have faith in the legal system. friend of mine swiped a car while reversing, than fled. Cops was on her few weeks later.
she was charged with damage and hit and run. Days of being a p plater.... LOL ...
I wouldn't have any faith, they don't have time to chase up minor accidents like this. The insurance company can pull up the owners details from the number plate and they'll sort it out from here on in. Because it's been reported to police already and the insurance claim has gone in it will make it hard for the driver of the CRV to try and come up with another story.
Sucks that the guy may not get charged with leaving the scene of an accident but that's life.

the guy is a total tool but have to agree with maverick, they really wont chase too hard, especially as the damage is insignificant. hope im wrong! would be a different story if the car was written off or someone was hurt.

I feel the pain windyzz, believe me i have spent many thousands over the years repairing other peoples damage to our cars. Invariably it has been while the car was parked, the most common being the right corner of the rear bumper.... and second place goes to the number plate, i have had to panel beat the bloody thing time after time. That seems to be the 'parking aid', when the tow ball hits the car behind!
I hate to be the one to point this out... but be prepared for one possibility, the CRV driver may claim you ran into the back of him then got out of your car to abuse him.. so he drove off. Ideally you need a witness, or to hope that he is not that underhanded. Never underestimate the depths some people will sink to!
