  • My bumper After A man with CRV hit and run :( :(

    Hi guys,

It was a bad luck for me yesterday,I was at traffic light waiting for green signal to turn left, and there was CRV on my front and he tried to reverse and get a kerb parking next to my car (Obviously it wont fit, as my car is next to it), He reversed and i kept on honking him, and it hit me.

I get out of my car and tell him that he hit my car, and just before I ask him for his detail, he Drove off at full speed. I did not manage to catch him, but i got his plate number.

Here is the damage to my .:R (hope it can be fix easy and will not bee to expensive)

    what a piece of ****!
sorry to hear dude Full comp should handle it, but you'll probably have to pay the excess unless the cops can find him?

Got his plates, you've got someone to blame. It's up to the Police now and you shouldn't have to pay a cent of excess.

Sucks though, hopefully not a hassle to get it repaired. It always hurts to see your car get hurt for such a stupid reason

Tough luck - I hate scumbags like that who can't take some responsibility for their actions.

Look at your insurance contract - some say you only need a number plate, others require full name and address.

If you need full name and address, sometimes a visit to the cops explaining your situation may give you some information, although this doesn't always work.

call the cops to tell them the story. In drive off instances like this they are usually pretty helpful if you have the plate.

it'll buff out (someone had to say it)

dude, the guy is scum. if you hit someone, man up and give your details and sort the damage out. what a loser. karma is coming though.

speaking of hit and runs, what about that absolute low-life that hit the 80yr old guy on Canterbury road near the pedestrian bridge and actually GOT OUT to check if he had died, and then drove off.

anyway, interested to hear your repair quotes and hope she is back to sparkling new as soon as can be. look on the bright side, at least your gorgeous exhaust note is unchanged

I reckon, especially when you hear a horn blasting at you from behind

Yeah I reported to the police as soon as this happen, but I have not heard anymore update from them.

I guess I'll just bring it to a smash and repair shop tomorrow morning before i get to work and get it sorted. I think it will be a hassle to get cops + insurance.

                What a day .

At least you got the plate number and know what happened. Can be really infuriating to find damage to your car not knowing where, how or who.

But to speed off when the person you hit is right there and saw what happened...that's low. Grrrrrr.

As I've posted elsewhere, the cops caught up with my mum once when she had a very minor parking scrape in her beat up Datsun and thought there was no damage to the other vehicle. A witness reported it to the police with the reg number and my mum got a visit from the police a few days later.

So satisfying, surely the fine they'll receive from the police will be way more than what it would have cost to repair your car. (I think it's atleast $500)

Although when your talking to the police, make sure you mention the witness you have that was standing by the side of the road (Your best mate, who you didn't know at the time).. If they investigate and the other car has repaired its damage or wasnt noticeably damaged it will be your word against theirs and you won't get a cent. Have a witness just incase it comes to that.

I had some dude claim I left the scene of an accident after he had some road rage, the cops rocked up at my place 2 months later and wanted a chat.. Apparently I crashed into him and wrote off his van. I showed them my car, scratched my head and asked them how my scratchless car could have written off a van and driven away. Signed a statement and heard nothing more of it.

Have faith in the legal system. friend of mine swiped a car while reversing, than fled. Cops was on her few weeks later.

she was charged with damage and hit and run. Days of being a p plater.... LOL ...

                          Drove off? What a tool!

Is that a crease on the bumper? That could be more expensive than you think ...

I would chase it up with the cops, its not hard for them to get details based off the plate. You need all the info to give to your insurer.

I had an off last week after someone pulled out from the right (t-junction, I was on the main road). I swerved, jumped the gutter and ran into a tree (at low speed). It was in my 4WD but still damaged the bullbar and stuffed the wheel alignment; they didn't stop and I didn't get their plate as they were long gone ...

Don't get it fixed on your own mate. Go through your insurance company. Properly repair paint on plastic bumper bars is expensive. I hope they catch him and he pays through the nose.

YEP they love these sorts of things.

do it fast before he can repair his bumper and dispute that it was him.

Then again, the height of the damage on your car should correspond to the bumper on his CRV which proves the point again.

                              good luck!
