As long as you have warranty should be OK, otherwise I can't imagine the cost of that repair!

    Good luck!

Ok I take back the happy days. Received another phone call. They reckon they need to log the fault. So once again it went home with the head tech. Why didn't they do this the first night he took it home??? Now they won't receive the part until Monday and can't offer me a car for the weekend. So I'm going to pay them a visit at lunch and

            Jetta DSG - similar fault

Not the temp sensor or the crimped wire issue, but Mechatronics solenoid sticking afaik.

I hope you have contacted a dealer by now??

I had a very similar fault with the DSG in my Jetta TSI Friday (6 Nov). Lost the transmission, gear number lights fashing, and warning indicator. Switched off. On re-start all worked OK. So I drove to the dealer (2km) and had the car checked out. They reported a 'sporatic fault' and reset the computer. Test drive showed no further faults. Told to continue using car and report any future faults.
NOTE - My Mechatronic unit was replaced only last May (MY08 car w/ 35k km at the time). So I am now anxious to get back confidence that all is OK with the tranny ...
I'll watch this space for any others reporting problems...

Well here's an update. I picked my car up on Wednesday avro. DSG was smooth as and no problems. Went for a drive later that night and bam it did the same thing. Took it back Thursday morning they have now replace a wiring harness and temp wired the Shifter to the Mechatronic unit. Head tech took it home again and everything was fine. Today i received a phone call They removed the temp wiring and need to do further testing to see what wiring is faulty. NOT HAPPY Now i'm stuck with a 1.9TDI polo for the weekend. I hardly fit in the drivers seat being so tall.
