  • Bluetooth install problem Airbag and Traction Lights on

Hi I have just installed the Skoda bluetooth kit in my car and the airbag and traction warning lights came on shortly afterwards, Any ideas

Well the lights ended up going out by there selves , unfortuantly the kit doesnt seem to work. Didn't realize volkswagen dont include the head unit code in the book that comes with the car , I cant find the bluetooth to pair my phone. Hope its because the radio isn't working. Might pop down to volkswagen and see if they can do the coding changes on the car for me

The lights were caused by the battery being disconnected.

Your CAN-bus gateway will need t be coded to suit the Bluetooth unit, and obviously, you'll need the security code for the radio.

Yep , You wouldn't beleive how hard it is to get a code for the radio, It doesn't come with one with the car 4 phone calls and a trip to the dealer and still no code. Hopefully they get back to me today or a might loose it lol

I was going to see if the dealer would code the bluetooth but i'll give it a miss and see if someone on here would do it for a few beers

It's not that hard to get it, I sent one email to the service manager and had the code within 30 minutes!

You may be helped in that regard if you actually put your location in your profile...

haha I just noticed that one , Im based in melbourne , The dealer called up before and said to bring it down in the morning as they have to hook it up to the diagnostics to get the code in. I'll see how we go in the morning

If that fails, PM me your VIN, and the serial number off the radio (Starts with VWZ).

Well all didn't go to plan this morning , volkswagen recon they couldn't connect to the radio using their diagnostic tool. They recon there was no fault but just couldn't talk to the radio. I'll pull it out this weekend and get the code off it and chase it up with the poster above.

Is there any reason why the skoda / volkwswagen kit wouldn't work with the RCD310 ? The service advisor recons that the premium kits will only work with the rns / rcd 510. I brought the skoda kit so as i could future proof my self as i planned shortly to get the RCD 510.

I brought the ebay kit with the wiring harness so it should be OK

                  Any ideas ?

RCD310 doesn't have the "Phone" button does it? Not sure... As long as you get the right one you should still be able to control it from the MFD I would have thought, but don't quote me...

As Umai said earlier, you will need to tell the car's CAN bus gateway controller (19) that controller 77 (Telephone) is installed, otherwise it won't work at all, nothing to do with the stereo working or not...

Hi Guys , All starting to make sense now , Looks as though the ebay adapter for the phone unit has faulty wiring on the can bus front. I got the code from umai na!! and poped it in , Now the radio wont turn off by its self or the steering wheel controls work , so I'll pull it out again on the weekend and try it with the original plug and test the new one to see where the fault is.

What a pain in the neck this has turned out to be .

Big thanks to umai na!! for smsing me the code ! what a legend

I'd sign up over at the briskoda forums. they have a lot of experience with the Skoda kit.

                          How much was it BTW?

                            Good News

Opened up the dash today and tested out my theory about the can bus cables not being attached properly turns out they were the wrong way around in the ebay harness. I guess a simple manufacturing mistake.. had to be the most important one. tested all the rest of them with a multimeter to make sure they are all OK. Swapped the pins around

Turned the car back on Radio works perfectly and searched for bluetooth and low and behold "Volkswagen" comes up paired with 1234 and were in action !

So a Big thanks to everyone who helped out.

On an interesting note when i went to the dealer to get the code for the radio. They couldn't give it to me as when they scanned the car the radio wasn't responding. No one told me there that all they needed was the S/N of the unit.

I called on the phone twice as first time they said the couldn't help and they said bring it in , so i did then they said the couldn't help because the computer system was down. Back the next day to a barrage of criticism

The service lady was really rude. She basically called me an idiot for installing the unit and told me they should charge me $128 dollars and hour for the time they have wasted trying to give me the code for the radio (Literally 5 mins) and it will never work , then she had her colleague say i shouldn't mess around with the car. Both were two of the rudest condescending people I'd met in customer service. So what , you still need to provide me with the code !

Needless to say I dont think ill be taking the car back there for servicing I think i'll spend my money else where
