  • Finally!! The wait is over!

The day has finally arrived! Just picked up my new GTI and... wow!! Everything that all the posts have said is true! It is just a truly fantabulous car! (If there's such a word!!)

One thing I'd like to check with all of you is that - my dealer mentioned that during the first few weeks the car should be driven "relatively hard" to wear it in??? But I know most of you have been told quite the opposite!! So who's right?!?! I'd really appreciate the feedback on this one - coz on one had I really wanna have some fun with the car - but don't wanna wreck the engine in the first week or anything like that!

    Cheers!

Congrats mate on the car. On the running in question i was always was told to drive it the way you are going to drive it for the rest of its life. So i personally drove mine about 7/10 well maybe 8/10 for the first 500kms and after that i didnt hold back. There is a website about how you should run in a car for maximum performance in the future but i cant remember what it is. Also i have been told that VW bench run there engines before they are put in the car. If im wrong someone please ket me kow.

Drive it like you stole it. Seems to have worked well with the R.

      Cheers Al

Congratulations on the new ride. Where definately a fast growing breed at the present and rightfully so. The cars are brilliant!

I would get stuck into from the start. Probably no launches from the lights for 1500km but give it heaps while rolling along. Don't hold at high revs for any sustained period of time but let it rev naturally. The main thing is to enoy it. Well done again.

That's good to know. Thanks for all the feedback!
I just can't get over how "lively" the engine is - it just seems to love anything the paddle gives it.

                          No sweat.

Only thing is you need a boat load of money to have to worry about breakin a new motor in anyway.
