  • Pirelli stage 1 tuning

hey guys out there, have any of you with stage 1 on your pirelli.

when stationary, in S mode. u floor all the way, sometime will u get the engine light out for abt 10seconds then gone, same like that traction light?

    is this normal?

Is this an APR stage one? That engine light coming on does not sound healthy by any means

      which tune?
you're flooring it while sitting stationary, or do you mean driving off the mark?

So which is it? The engine light or the traction light?

If it's the traction light, then err yeah that's pretty normal but only when the TC is actively cutting power.

But if it's the engine light then definately not. Sounds like something is erroring out and then resetting (I think a lot of tunes are self-resetting)....

Could be any number of problems, but I'd definately want to have it looked at. If the tune is masking out a problem, you want to find out what it is and have it resolved. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

        All - it's a GIAC tune.

Take it back to your giac dealer in singapore. How many k's have you done in your car? I have heard that pirellis have an issue with cylinder 3 misfires regardless of brand of tune.

Have you got access to vagcom? Run an error scan and see what it comes up with.

              He's in NSW...

I'd go and get the flash unloaded first, then if the problem persists go back to your dealer. You've got to eliminate the possibility that the GIAC flash is causing the engine light to come on.

i am in singapore. there only 10 odd pirelli over here. they have gt the map from usa giac , took about 2 weeks.

i going for the dsg reflash from GIAC too.

i have a problem too the other day once install GIAC stage 1 , after 3-4 hr when i start my car the wiper did not move. went to check for fuse blow but nth, finally plug the main wiper switch and replug, it work again.

will the stage 1 GIAC harm my car?

Dude take your car back to the dealer and get it checked out before you do anything else. Run a vagcom diagnostic and see what error code comes up. Wont know what the problem is unless you have a code to pinpoint it to.

I'd be careful with a dsg flash and consider the warranty implications of this which will be no warranty on the gearbox and these are quite expensive to replace.

And make sure you flash back to stock before taking your car back to the dealer or you will face no warranty on the engine or gearbox when they detect the tune whilst trying to replicate the problem.

Check that the tune is suited to the cars in Singapore as well, I would have thought that they would have used a local tune for the car (from Asia) rather than a US one???? Are you sure they didn't use a local one? What fuel are you running in the car?

And just to clarify - when these guys are saying take it to your dealer - they're talking about your GIAC dealer first, then your VW dealer.

                          Oh dear....

I wouldn't think the ECU controls the wipers, but who knows...

Might be a dodgy flash... The wrong tune, who knows...

Certainly seems strange it all started happening after the tune went in though.

                          Best of luck with that...

this is actually a problem i've for awhile. Ive brought it to my tuning mechanic as well as VW in stock mode and VW has been useless saying it was a sparatic misfire. They have switched the coils around twice and still misfires from the same cylinder.

My mechanic has been the best of help changing the spark plugs and spraying the manifold with this engine cleaner but the fault still appears when under full throttle.

I did however get my boost gauge recently installed and what i found interesting was that on stage one i was peaking or spiking at 23-25psi which is too high for stage one after talking with other members.

I am GIAC btw, but i have spoken with someone with APR who has the same problem and someone in singapore also had the same issue and he had bluefin

i think the next step might be to replace the fuel injectors?
