    yes, but it only hurts the owner in the hip pocket if it happens.

    i'm not sure on the theory of two clutches half the load, because if one of the clutches is slipping out of the ratio that the car can handle, then the slipping clutch will generate heat, eventually causing transmission failure after cooking the oil & all the components as well.

    i'm also not sure about choosing a DSG for heavy traffic conditions either.

    this is the reason i intend to get a manual in the golf 2.0 tdi mkV for the run to work. i don't want to put any more km's on the allroad than is necessary & i don't want transmission problems again. i know the allroad is a far heavier vehicle than a golf, which may put more pressure on the clutches in constant stop start traffic.
