After market head units are a bit different how they treat the camera and interface.

If the power is constantly on wont that reduce the life of the camera, or are they cheap enough to buy another one (may also flatten your little battery).
sigh... its always on when the car is on. Obviously its not hooked up directly to the battery. Just to accessory power.

haha, sorry wasn't sure. I tapped my old one into the cigarette lighter power.

Yeh mine gets its power from the rear cigarette lighter socket.. this is also a good place to source a power-on signal for amplifiers.

Mav, I am wanting to do this.

Where could I get this sort of thing installed? Would Volkspower be able to do it?

Where can I source all the parts from in the UK?

          Cheers,

          Dean

There's a good thread on it on golfmkv.com.

Just get the camera and cable from ECS (or one of the US sites) and small stuff from the dealer.

Nice if someone can fit it for you.

Yep, I was trying to find out if I could get the camera from the UK again but no go and it looks like ECS is the best priced option at the moment.

You haven't put the correct numbers of connectors etc in there as per my list on my site and you haven't added freight (ask them for a quote manually and they'll do a better price).

Also I'm not sure of the drain hose, I'm thinking of changing to the longer one (part number on the camelco website) as I've had a few drainage issues (I'll post them on my site in the next few days).

                        Maverick,

My friend who has just bought a Passat, is interested in this system. How does this RVC work with the Optical Parking Sensor?
If you put the car in reverse, what appears by default?

Can you toggle between OPS and RVC?

                        Can it do split screen?

                        Cheers,

                        Dean

I think you can do it split screen:

Well for starters it appears to be about $200 more expensive than the price I got from ECS Tuning.

That's the Kufatec kit. The Kufatec kit is to put it bluntly.

The kit has a Passat camera designed to work with the Passat controller (essentially it's a composite camera) and it plugs into the Kufatec controller which brings about problems like failing to switch and poor picture quality.

The camera deancorp posted and on my website is designed to work with the RNS 510 has a controller built in and converts the signals for the RNS 510 and plugs directly into the rear of the RNS 510.

Don't introduce extra complexity and cost, go for the Volkswagen OEM solution as it works every time!

                                = Kufatec Camera owner

Which one do you want to be
