  • Installing a Golf Mark VI Rear View Camera (RVC) into a Golf Mark V

Finished my Mark VI RVC camera installation last night and have started documented what you need and how to do it, will take me at least 3-4 more days to finish this off.

Camera works flawlessly (unlike previous solution) and I'll put some photos up when I get a chance to take some during the day, image quality is top notch.

        good job mav!!

so does the boot hatch still open the same way??

when you lift the latch, is the camera still there? or does the camera poke out only when reverse is activated?

          Well done.
          pity re the $$ needed.

My rear camera that fits in a number plate light hole was $80.
Wolf NCU is a shell application, skinable with gauge for speed, reading the speed from gps. I am currently having a problem to get the gauge working but as soon as i solve this i will post a guide for Wolf NCU. You can watch videos on youtube for Wolf NCU.

It's only visible when the camera is activated. I've just put some photos up that show how it works.

That's very cool, can't wait for the pictures,

I'm thinking that the expensive part was the RNS510,

Great result but its a Very expensive and time consuming way to achieve the same picture as a tiny permanently mounted camera above number plate or in bumper itself as people have mentioned.

My camera is flush mounted in bumper and you can't see it cause bumper is black.

Does it automatically appear on the VW nav unit when you select reverse?

yes.. bit I don't have a VW head unit. Still, the only thing the factory or any other head unit needs to show the picture is a signal coming from reverse lights. Eg power to reverse lights spliced into the sensor wire on head unit = camera coming on when reverse is engaged.

As my camera is always on I can have a chase camera view also.

I'm keen to do this soon too.

After market head units are a bit different how they treat the camera and interface.

If the power is constantly on wont that reduce the life of the camera, or are they cheap enough to buy another one (may also flatten your little battery).

There are a few good video demonstrations here:

                              OEM stuff is the best.
