  • Questions about MY06 Golf GTI

I just joined the forum and I just had some basic questions about the MY06 Golf GTI

Which Months in 2006 did they start selling MY07's? Also what are the differences between the original and the MY07 GTI's? I think the MY06 does not have cruise control... was that available as an option?

I'm going to be looking at a 2006 GTI and the current owner of the car doesn't seem to know if it was a MY07 over the phone, just wondering how I can tell the difference? Its a 5 door DSG one if it helps

    Thanks!

MY07's are produced from July 2006.
Any car bought after September 2006 (assuming a 3 month production and shipping timeframe) should almost certainly be a MY07

thanks team_v. But just to be sure, how can I be certain that it is a MY07 and any advantages of only looking at MY07? Features wise... I understand other things like Mileage, resale.... etc

        See here:

I have a question for anyone on the forum that may be able to enlighten me. I bought my GTI (new) in September last year and it has a build date of late 2006, yet it has been suggested that it is an MY07, if so how do I tell? What is the difference between the 2 models? I would be most...

Easy google search for MY06 vs MY07 GTI shows up heaps of results.

It will be in the VIN as well...

The number in red indicates the MY.

Thanks. Quick note for Mods... I reckon the threads team_v linked to should go in the FAQ bit on the top of the MK5 Section. That was the first page I read
