Cable to bonnet - What is it?

When the bonnet is up, one can see a cable running up from the firewall on the drivers side up the hinge and then ending in what looks like a rubber grommet with a thin rubber filament, and attached to the bonnet. Anyone know what it is? At first, I thought it might be a temperature sensor but it seemed an unlikely spot for it.

No, sorry, it's not a windshield washer outlet. It doesn't even look like a contact swtch for the bonnet, but I'll take a closer look over the weekend.

So, I assume, the channel runs inside along the bonnet edge? Very neat.

Not used to this German enginieering; been driving jap cars too long with their exposed windshield washer tubes.

You have to watch them, I was deep inside a wiring harness the other day, and there was high pressure vacuum, water lines, coax all mixed in with the regular wiring looms.

I wont mention if I accidentally cut a water line thinking it was a coax!

Well, I can understand how that can happen. My first impression was that it was some sort of cable conduit.
