    Local rag article

Our local paper had an article on it last weekend. Journo couldn't pick a fault with it (and that was nice to see!) Interestingly, the other paper had an article on the new diesels and they sang their praises too! If only the price were a little more competitive. In Europe, prices for the same type of car are extemely competitive and way below what we pay. Oh, and the $32k, common rail, direct injection TDi isn't that much slower than the GTi (but does 55mpg). Still, if the Koreans and Japs keep on offering their tin cans for less that $20k people will keep on buying them.

ive heard good things about the new Golf GTi. the most focused since the mk1 apparently. the favourite is the DSG which is quicker than the manual and the DSG box is the best DSG box even manufactured, much better than porsche ferrari and the like. VW bought the plans off Porsche in the 80's cos porsche thought it would cost to much to develope. there loss!!!!!
looking forward to a ride in one of these beauties!
Diesel Gti's in europe are becoming faster than petrol ones. i was watchin top gear (british car testing show) they raced a mini cooper and a diesel GTi (forgotten the car ) and the diesel thrashed it.
      interesting huh?

            GTi price

Just under $40k I'd have to check but $38-$39k rings a bell. But a stunning car for the money! Even if the front looks a nit like a b****y Pulsar!

Just got my butt into gear and checked prices. $39990 for the manual and $42290 for the auto (who would want an auto anyway?). Think I'll buy two manuals, one for weekdays and one for the weekend. How well do they run on biodiesel??

well the 'auto' on the GTi is a DSG box and is quicker than the manual um no as blistering quick as the rex. but is about a second slower to the 100km/h mark. not bad at all handels beautifully so ive been told to.

                            Read an article: http://www.drive.com.au/editorial/ar...vf=2&bg=1&pp=1

                            Rates is HIGHLY indeed.

doesnt handle or grunt quite as much as a wrx but hands down in all other departments. HOT HATCH of the year. And quite nicely priced!

i'd change the front bar personally, but i still think its HOT. 300k on the speedo...ooh ooh!

ps: Golf Loon: Milo used to be my baby! I hope the funeral was beautiful
