Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

LOL, I'm surprised it's taken this long for someone to post one of these.

I use to say the firmer the ride the better. My choice in cars where normally 2 doors like the 200sx etc, but a lower back issue has meant I now need to compromise.

Car is going to VW tomorrow just to make sure there are no issues. Then I'll be spending about $140 on the two front seats to add a bit of higher quality padding (not to say that I don't like the beads, lol). If I'm still not happy, then I'll get Koni to look at the car (to confirm more a insert issue than say a spring issue) and, if required, fit a set of koni FSD's if they feel it will make a significant difference to current ride.

If that doesn't do it then one 2007 black Jetta TFSI with leather, sunroof, DSG, 18" Karthoum's with brand new michelins & rear boot lip spoiler will be up for sale!!! And yes, the mrs will probably try to kill me first, but that's ok!

Interesting thread, I found my deceased 06 Jetta TFSI firm and taut and while some really bad road surfaces caught the suspension out a little it was never uncomfortable for me despite my age and having some back problems. I did find the seat cushions to be lacking, perhaps I should have had them beefed up a bit. I'm wondering if the 18s are actually the root of the problem.

      Cheers

Oh no! A write-off? Are you gonna get another VW?

One thing I notice is that if my Jetta's tyre pressure is too high (say 38+ psi) then the suspension / chassis is creaking on hard bump & large potholes. Maybe the wear & tear after almost 3 yrs pounding the crappy Sydney roads ...

Yes, was written off in August just before I went O/S for 5 weeks so only just replacing it now. 2 more sleeps till my new one. The threads below explain what happened and what I'm replacing it with. There's also a clue in my sig!

Goddess of dawn - are u about to take ownership of the nissan beast? If so, you are one lucky dude.

I'm not quite 40 yet, but what can I say - cars I've driven, unfortunately after my purchase, with 18' and 19's seem to be a lot more controlled and compliant over the majority of roads. So the main reason for the thread was to see if anyone else had the same experience and if they have spent money to resolve. So far, it seems no one has tried the Koni FSD's which I'm interested in getting. Around $1600 i believe, plus fitting.

Hahaha ... yeh we don't talk / promote on other brands in this forum

Hmm ... isn't EOS a downgrade from Jetta in terms of space, room and doors/access? Not sure about the need for baby seat but I remember you showed us pics of boot-full of wines in the Jetta from the Hunter Valley trip

I was looking to buy a Jetta because it is such a practical car but there is bugger all stock of 147 TSI Jettas with sunroof in the country so would have been a 3-4 month wait. I also wanted to take advantage of the free dealer delivery, CTP, Rego and Stamp Duty offer that is currently running. My wife was pushing me towards an Eos and the deal was good so we made the choice. It's my mid life crisis car, I've worked hard for my mid life crisis and I deserve it!

No need for a baby seat, I'm in my mid fifties with grown up kids, if I need a sedan for anything I can borrow my in laws 4 year old Ford Focus that has about 3,000 KM on the clock!

As far as the wine trips to the Hunter Valley / Mudgee are concerned (and the record is 14 boxes on one trip) I'm using lateral thinking, instead of infrequent trips bringing many boxes back, I'll just make more frequent trips! Simple solution

Think we are a bit off topic here, hope the OP finds a solution to his ride issue because I think the 147 TSI Jetta is a really great car.

                  One more sleep!!!!!!!

                  Cheers
