  • Mark V R32 Rev limit?

    Hi.

Does anyone know what the actual rev limit is for the Mark V R32. I searched but couldnt find it; and dont want to push it to the limiter to find out.

I have seen the dsg shift at around 6500-6600, is this the actual figure?

Stock should be 6600 rpm, but if you use 's' mode it will shift at 6800 rpm.
500 x 100 max size on sig pics please!!

Wow, thats pretty high. The sound at those rpms is just amazing. I must say I never felt comfortable pushing a car to even 5k rpms.... until the day I drove the R32, the needle just heads east so quick its hard to resist, and it doesn't feel "painful" pushing it so high, it seems so comfortable going up to redline.

Wow! Did your chip and dsg flash make a considerable improvement to acceleration Big Yellow? Speaking of which, any ideas where I can find stats (0-100 times) for the ECU flashes, e.g. APR or GIAC? I would really like to know what numbers I could expect.

ive only got the ecu at this stage. waiting to get the dsg done too.

even with ecu and intake, you can feel a considerable difference to the top end where it used to drop off in power. so this does help accellerate faster. throttle response is also crisper and it all aids in acceleration.

sorry but i dont have any figures as i have not taken my car to the drags. will try find some though!

you have other options as well from c2 as well as vr6specialist (nl).

you will only get minimal improvements from the engine unfortunately, unless you go spend a bit of $$ its unfortunate that in comparison to the mk4 how hard its to pull more out of it..
                What’s behind you doesn’t matter..

I have My R32 Chipped with GIAC. K&n filter is coming soon too.
I could not really feel any more powerful, but the torque on the low Rev + the thortle response makes it much more drivable and fun - As i got wheel spin without launch control (but not before the chip).

I Timed my 0-85km with my stop watch and it clocked 4.8-4.9 seconds, and with dynopocket (Iphone app) it clocked 0-100 5.7-5.8secs - which i don't think its that accurate.

I guess 0-100km/h dsg with Chip should do about ~6.1-6.2 seconds.

                  Cheers

Just hold it flat to the floor, it will change a long time before the engine is stressed too much. The rev controls thru the ecm and the dsg will look after the driveline automatically before you can do any harm.
Enjoy the car and give it some stick.

Yeah my rev limited is extended too with the APR ecu flash, can't recall the exact figure, as well as lowered exhaust temps by 200 deg C.

I don't think changing gears at the rev limit is actually the fastest point (if you look at vs power on a dyno) but good to know what it is..
